It's February!!!

Jack and Abby playing "grocery store"

I don't know about anyone else, but boy am I glad January is over! It's always so hard to finally come to terms with the fact that the holidays are over. And then there's resolutions, which I am just horrible at. So finally February is here! Hurray!

This past weekend I got a little taste of what it would be like to be a single parent. Richie took at trip to Utah to visit with some of his buddies from freshmen year at BYU for the weekend. Pretty much it was a bunch of guys hanging out watching the Superbowl with no kids around...sounds nice huh?? Our friends have been doing this for a few years now and since last year Abby was still very small we decided to skip the 8+ hour drive to San Francisco (that's where the shindig was held last year). This year though I told Richie to go on ahead without me. And let's get this straight, I HATE the idea of Richie going out of town. He doesn't do it very often, but when he does, it's miserable. I hate being alone at night without Richie. I also hate not having my hubby come home at night to put all the pieces together in our home when I have just had enough of the day.

Well unfortunately, last week was a rather difficult week. Isaac was having a "not so good" week when it came to his behavior. He didn't want to dress himself, or feed himself, or go to the bathroom by himself, etc. I'm not exactly sure what brought that on, but it was not fun. I dreaded the weekend all week not knowing if I would survive (not kidding!) Well I did! And I have to add that it ended up being a super fun weekend. The most exciting events: ALMOST getting snowed in at the Children's Museum with Amy and Jack (and my 2 cranky kids!), Dinner at Panera bread with Amy and the kids, getting to church 10 minutes EARLY on Sunday (this NEVER, EVER happens!), and our little Superbowl Party at Amy's house. A special thanks to Amy for being my "lifeline" all weekend and for hosting the party and to David and Tara for the delicious food they brought to the party.

I am really glad Richie was able to get away for the weekend and just relax. He works so hard for our family and he TOTALLY deserved this trip. The kids and I missed him so much and I realized this weekend how grateful I am for my husband. He is the best father, husband, and friend I could ever ask for! Love you baby!

Update on the kids: Abby is walking! It took her forever, but she's finally walking away! She also loves playing with cars, Isaac's favorite toys. Isaac has found new ways to play with Abby, the latest, putting her inside one of the toy bins and pushing her around. What can I say? The Northwest is just so miserable and rainy in the winter that you have to get creative!
I know I've been a slacker but I'll try to post more often. There just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day....Happy February everyone!
